Winter WonderLARK this Saturday

The 5th Annual Winter WonderLARK is almost here! Join us this Saturday, December 10th from 12pm-5pm for shopping, sprinting, & lots of other fun activities. This event is always family-friendly & features the area's favorite race, the Santa Speedo Sprint.

This isn't any old race! Runners in the Santa Speedo Sprint don their most festive skivvies in order to raise funds for the Albany Damien Center. The costumed runners run from Madison Avenue down Lark Street to State & back. Be sure to stake out your spot on the street early so you don't miss the runners getting warmed up! 2pm start

Ice Sculpting Competition
Be sure to head to the corner of Madison & Lark between 12-2pm to see the amazing ice creations the competing 3 sculptors can make! Last year, we had our very own ice Petula Lark; will these artists be able to beat that?

O'Tannenbaum Tree Trimming Contest
We decided to challenge our merchants to another contest.
This year, instead of decorating their windows, five businesses will be decorating a tree. The trees will be out on the sidewalks in front of each business & the public will be able to vote for their favorite at each of the participating businesses.
      Check out the trees at:
  • Alacrity Frame Workshop, 215 Lark Street
  • Capital Wine, Corner of State & Lark
  • Elissa Halloran Designs, 229 Lark Street
  • Lark Street Flower Market, Corner of Hudson & Lark
  • Subway, Corner of Washington & Lark
Outdoor Holiday Market
Pick up some Holiday gifts while you are enjoying the other Winter WonderLARK activities. Lark Street Merchants & vendors will be set up on the sidewalks from 12pm-5pm. From handcrafted books, knit items, jewelry, and artwork, there is sure to be something to please even the toughest person on your list!

Oaxacan Pottery Smashing
For the second year in a row, we will be doing traditional Oaxacan Pottery Smashing! To bring good luck to yourself & loved ones in the New Year, come purchase a piece of pottery and toss it behind you against a brick wall. The greater the number of pieces, the more the luck the person will have in the coming year!
Join us for this family-friendly activity at 245 Lark Street, across from Ben & Jerry's.

Chef's Consortium Food Sampling
Get a taste of what the Capital Region has to offer. The Chef's Consortium will be cooking up delicious treats focusing on local & seasonal ingredients.

Gingerbread Funshop
Always a crowd favorite, the Gingerbread Funshop will be back at the UAG at 247 Lark Street. Kids & kids at heart can decorate their own gingerbread people while taking in some artwork & getting out of the cold.
